Wayne Price is an unconventional educator, and that's precisely what is making him such a beloved professor at University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau where he teaches Northwest Coast art. He's worked on his own for decades, apprenticing with master carvers in his younger years and mentoring countless young people in Tlingit formline art and carving. In 2018 at 60 years old he began his career as a professor. Wayne is a dedicated teacher who is deeply invested in the well-being of his students. During the pandemic, his were the only in-person classes at the university, a sign of the significance of his role and teachings to the community.
